Nacre (Nuh-kree) Coleman is a dedicated dance educator, performer, and cultural advocate currently pursuing her Master’s in Dance Education: K–12 Initial Certification at NYU Steinhardt. A proud Bronx native, Nacre holds a B.A. in English from the College of New Rochelle and brings a unique blend of literary insight, creative passion, and community commitment to her work in the arts.
Her dance journey began in middle school, where she quickly found her voice through movement. From competitive step performances in high school and college to choreographing numerous liturgical pieces, Nacre’s work has been seen in churches and cultural events across New York City, Westchester, Los Angeles, Dallas, and New Orleans. Her deep-rooted connection to spiritual and expressive dance continues to inform her artistic mission.
Currently serving as a Creative Arts Instructor in Brooklyn, Nacre teaches both dance and step, blending technical instruction with cultural context and personal empowerment. She also serves as a professional judge for the World of Step Alliance, lending her experience and eye for excellence to support emerging talent nationwide.
Her teaching experience dates back to her teens, when she led dance and step workshops through the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). Since then, she has designed original curriculum for Oasis Summer Day Camp and the Art of Stepping, always centering creativity, inclusion, and discipline.
With an unwavering commitment to youth development, Nacre views the performing arts as a powerful vehicle for self-expression, healing, and education. She is passionate about advocating for broader access to quality arts instruction and aims to inspire future generations by showing them how movement can be a source of pride, purpose, and possibility.
