He Yi Harmony in Schools Initiative
At PS 112Q, students participated in a transformative teaching artist residency rooted in He Yi (Oneness) and He Yi Dao—the Way of Harmony. Integrating movement, culture, and social-emotional learning for whole-child development. Through positive energy, dance of various styles, breathwork, music and rhythm, students explored social-emotional learning, cultural awareness, and self-expression. In just a few days, the program fostered greater focus, empathy, and collaboration, culminating in a powerful performance that reflected unity, respect, and personal growth for AAPI Heritage Month.
Program Description: He Yi Harmony in Schools Residency at PS 112Q
Through a dynamic teaching artist residency at PS 112Q in Long Island City, students were introduced to the transformative principles of He Yi (Oneness) and He Yi Dao—the Way of Harmony—through movement, music, and culturally rooted learning.
Led by Melissa Moore (Teaching Artist and Director of The Healing Circle Foundation) in collaboration with Teacher Lu Xia (master instructor in He Yi and Life Frequency practices), Dance Entropy, and The Healing Circle Foundation, this program integrated social-emotional learning (SEL), cultural awareness, mindfulness, and embodied practice into the elementary school classroom experience.
